Featuring DJ El Rebel X spicing it up with some world music layered with spoken-word samples, Mars Caulton bringing stories and social analysis through word and sound, and singer-songwriter Camilo Quitze Quintana crooning some tunes.

World music DJ El Rebel X spiced sets are filled with positive samples from world leaders over eclectic mixes of dance beats. Malcolm X, Comandante Ramona, Che, and Cesar Chavez all find their way into the night’s dance set made up of pop, rock, house and world beats. Mars Caulton | Word and Sound Artist
Schooled at “Lit-X,” a staple of Chicago’s open mic scene in the early 90’s, Mars quickly learned the true power of the spoken word. Driving word and song into electronic and acoustic rhythms, Mars delivers social analysis, dreams and blueprints for change. Renaissance Street, her production company, is dedicated to supporting progressive/social/political art. She continues to work as a teaching artist, and a single mother of a rebel-In-training.

Camilo Quitze Quintana | Singer-songwriter and artist
Ranging from rock to reggae, blues to Spanish cumbias, Camilo Quitze will perform an acoustic set of both originals and covers. His viral hit, “Mi Mama No Quiere,” (My mama don’t want me to) a catchy cumbia that as gotten radio airplay in Texas, California, and Illinois even though it has yet to be released.
